This book provides a wealth of information for those who wish to restore or recreate bindings from the medieval period. The text is a scholarly treatment of the subject and so is rather ponderous at times, but well worth working through. I am glad to own this book||'Dr Szirmai has filled gap of long standing in the history of the book. No comprehensive study of medieval bookbinding structure exists and certainly not one that is so detailed and wide ranging... An excellent and extensive bibliography and a detailed index
